Nat wasn’t “just” the woman who saved half of the known galaxy and helped stop an unstoppable Titan. Especially given Marvel Studios’ agonizingly slow process of getting its female heroes into the mix. Still, there was a narrative injustice to the lack of response to her death from both the Avengers as a whole and citizens worldwide. She was a spy, a ghost, and never one to make her personal affairs known.
Of course, we as viewers know that in the same way that we can quantify that it makes little sense for the circumstances of Natasha Romanoff’s death to be known the world over. But neither of those things would have been possible without Black Widow’s sacrifice to retrieve the soul stone. Hulk’s would bring back all those lost in the blip, while Iron Man’s would take out the Titan Thanos and his armies ensuring that the people of Earth would remain safe. Two snaps were heard around the galaxy at the end of Avengers: Endgame.
